My wife is now the proud owner of a Chevy Sonic. We bought a Mazdaspeed 3 tonight. It's a 2010, I really like it so far. I couldn't stand the idea of the 1.4 being the better motor naa we just needed a second car and got a good deal on this.

Yes I eventually will. I'm clueless still as to what's available for this car. It sure is fast. 0-60 in 6.3

My friend was in the market for one . I went and checked out a few with him and they are truly fast , but he ended up getting a cobalt turbo because it was cheaper . I think that the speed 3 is much better built . Good luck

It only had 16k miles for a 2010. And a 1 owner. I had to jump on that. I did notice something that really pissed me off. When I bought it it was cold wet and snowing I couldn't see the the scratches on the hood until it was home in my garage (3 hours away)

I had a condition issue on my red civic. Same kind of issue - rainy day and the issues were not obvious. Day of pickup was snowy. lol Ended up spending money to fix the hood ($500 fried-of-friend body shop), then the clear coat started peeling off the roof.

IMO the Mazda 3 is the most refined vehicle in the compact class. If price wasn't a factor, I'd be driving one right now. However, there are better vehicles when price is considered. The Sonic being one, and arguably the Focus, Accent, and Forte the others. The Mazda 2 suffers a similar fate as the 3 -- too pricey when you get anything added on.

there pistons are not very strong make sure you get a good tune.
also dont put a ton of the load on the engine like being in a high gear at a really low speed they blow engines that way
otherwise i love those speed 3's

I have MANY friends who have Mazda's...a few Speed3's (1st gen mostly, a couple 2nd gen), Speed6's, and others (Miata's, CX7, Mazda2, and more). Probably because I belong to the local Mazda forum even though I don't own a Mazda (not yet).

There are a lot of great online stores to purchase from when it comes to Mazda for aftermarket, but Corksport is where I would start.

My buddy has a 1st gen that runs 12.1 in the 1/4. Not the fastest, but didn't take a lot of coin to get it there. I like the 1st gen more than the 2nd gen, but would take either over the Sonic. Faster out of the box, and roomier.

You will love it!! 3rd gear is crazy! Only thing I didn't like about it is that it runs out of breath at 5300+ rpms, and gets heat soaked pretty easy. Get a CAI, COBB accessport, down pipe, full TBE. For handling, Cobb anti-sway bars, and lighter rims.
