Goodbye Inferno (Red) Orange

One of the reasons I didn't get an RS was the color choices, I wanted inferno orange. What I got was inferno red with a slight orange hue at some angles and lighting. I'm not disappointed, I love the color, but it's not the same as the pictures on the Chevy site and their ads. I have a sunburst orange Colorado and thought I was ordering a similar color and I'm pleasantly pleased that I didn't. The thing is, what is up with the photos Chevy uses? It is not the same color as the paint the factory uses.

Now that they dropped the inferno orange the point is moot, I got my order in just in time. Now there are only drab colors. They are nice just not me, I like contrast.

It's the way the pictures are taken. That's all. I have pictures of my car using the same camera Dj it looks like two diff cars

It's all about the angle and the amount of light or kind of light hitting the paint. My inferno orange goes from bright orange in good direct sunlight to redish orange in mild lighting to bronze in low light.

No amount of lighting or angle will make it change as much as it is in the picture. Maybe they changed the paint pigmentation since the picture was taken, but you can see the rear of my car is in sunlight and the front in shade. It's nowhere near the same color as the Chevy picture, but my truck matches Chevy's photo perfectly and is nowhere near the color of my car.

I'm not complaining, mind you, just wondering why their pictures vary so much from the actual color. I love the color of my car and am glad it was different.

Also, it seems someone at Chevy likes the color, too, since they use it so much in on their site yet they discontinued it and still use it in their ads.

I have a pic of my [victory red] Sonic that looks more orange than most [inferno orange] orange sonic pics. No doctoring, didn't try to get the light that way, I was taking a pic of the new exhaust and it just turned out orange car.

Now I admit that I still puzzle over Chevy not getting the color right, since they are presumably using professional photographers and studio editing and -should- have their pics come out spot on. But I can sure say that photos of the color seem funny.

Actual photos taken are very few these days. Most are color-shifted via computer, which explains why there could be disconnects. That, and most computer monitors, don't reflect color accurately.
