I'm a US citizen, expat in Thailand. Purchased a 2013 Sonic LTZ hatchback (Thai factory) 1.4 non-turbo in December, 121000KM (about 75,000 miles) on it. Well cared for. Cost $3000. Sonics and other Chevy vehicles sell cheap here because Chevy closed it's Thailand factory and pulled out of the market 5 years ago. Ironically, FORD covers local service.
Just took it in for oil/trans fluid change, Ford told me I needed a new water pump: $425 all in to replace. Quoted $300 using OEM parts by a recommended local mechanic. I always had large cars and vans in the US but my sister has a Chevy Spark which I have driven several time and really liked. I no longer need a large car. The Spark was not sold here but the Sonic fits the bill nicely, lots of fun to drive.
