Ended up picking up the S&W M&P Shield in 9mm flavor yesterday. Shot about 120 rounds through it at the range. It shot well, no issues. I did have the slide fail to stay open on me after last round once, but I'm pretty sure it was user error and I accidentally grabbed onto the slide release as I was shooting. I adjusted my grip slightly and haven't had an issue since; this happened within the first 20 rounds as I was getting used to the gun.
Ordered me a Tommy Theis holster for it. I've currently have a Theis holster for my PPX and It's quite comfy, even when carrying a large, a full size gun.
Might end up ordering a Remora as well, since I'd like something that doesn't necessitate a nice sturdy gun belt for when I wear hiking pants. Still trying to get over the concept of no clip, which makes me thing it's not secure enough, even though I am fully aware that I'm likely wrong.
EDIT:
It's INSANE what many shops want for used guns. One of the local shops wanted $489 for a used 9mm Shield and $450 for a used Nano. Both guns only came with what a new gun comes with (no extra mags, stock sights, etc). Both of those are about $50 more for used than those guns go NEW.
Hell, if you try hard enough, the Shield 9 can be had for $400 brand new.
