Has anyone ever experience hesitation when acceleration from a stop?

Hey guys, I just hit my 34k miles mark and have been sticking to the owner's manual maintenance schedule and I am starting to notice that I've been getting some hesitation when acceleration from a stop. I even floor the gas and it still struggle.

At first I thought it was my AC being on (it getting hot in Denver) but when I turn off my AC I noticed little to no difference.

Is this a common thing with Sonic?

Has it been very hot outside(above 80F)? Turbo engines run much better on premium(high octane) gas in the summer time.

I've been having an issue similar to that with my '12 1.4 turbo but driving it in auto but my check engine light is on and giving P0496 code. I've replaced my gas cap & the purge valve solenoid but the code persist. Probably going to take it to the dealership to get it checked out soon. If it's only at 34k I'd try better gas as @spacedout suggested and if that doesn't help take it to the dealership.

I ended up taking my car to the dealership and they said it was my pcv cover leaking air (again) and the replacement was covered by my powertrain warranty. I'm hoping to get the car back tomorrow, as that will be one week since I dropped it off. Were you able to get your problem diagnosed?

Did you have a CEL? if your valve cover was leaking and was the problem it should have set the check engine light.

Since you indicate this is not the first time its been replaced, did they look to see if the check valve is missing in your intake? typically with multiple failures its caused by a faulty intake.

Hi Chelsea the problem described look like an engine issue, which should be covered by the powertrain warranty. The Dealership I called say they can't they're not sure if it a powertrain problem until they do a diagnostic. The catch is that they say if the diagnostic turn out to be another problem not engine related they won't fix it under warranty and they will charge me for the diagnostic. Is this a normal practice?

Is your AC on?

Couple things I've noticed in the 40K I've owned my almost 100K sonic... The AC effects the acceleration A LOT. And if you chop your exhaust, you will get evap/purge codes. I see it about 10K straight piped before my purge valve solenoid quit. I replaced it and no code... Yet... I work with dealers and I asked about the acceleration issue from a few places, and they all replied with, "four cylinder big AC compressor"
