Hatchback rear seat issue

Has anyone else come across a problem with the half seat in their hatchback? I usually have my seats folded down for the dogs, but the smaller seat always pops out of its socket and is a pain in the ass to get back in when i want to put the seat back up for 2 legged passengers. also when its in the down position it's rocky and doesn't sit even with the other seat back.

I cant figure out a solution as i don't know whats causing the seat to pop out when i put it down.

anybody have any experience removing the rear seats and can explain the holding mechanism. I'm afraid if i remove the seat completely to investigate i wont be able to get it back in:sadbanana:. thanks!

Never had this problem, OP. My rear seats are always down.

so with the seat folded down it's "popping"...the seatback, or seat bottom? ...or entire seat???

when i go to put the seat down the bottom lifts up and out of its track it seems. then it sits rocky seems loose like the side is completely unattached. and to put it back up i have to wiggle it around to get it lined up and pinch my hand in there.

hmmmm...that's a hinge area isn't it. I wonder if it's loose or something...I think you can pull the front of the lower seat cushion up (carefully, and wear work gloves)...see if it is indeed off a hinge point.

With the seatback in position, I bet it's still loose, just held in place by the upper portion...either way that sounds like a safety issue.....

sounds like a bolt or nut is either super loose or missing altogether. Mine fold up and down with no issue what so ever. You might need to either take it in for warranty or just tear it apart yourself and see what is missing.

I'll have to check this weekend i have about 2k miles left until I'm off my bumper to bumper warranty. i didn't even consider the safety aspect of it.

By the way, the seat cushion pulls up from the rear. The only (somewhat) hard part is getting the seatbelt buckles back in the right place.

ahh. the lower cusion pulls from the rear...good to know.

i say to wear gloves because you can put your hand in there, and pull and then skin the sh*t out of your fingers or gouge a nail...fun.
