Hey guys, my name is Adam and I just bought this 2014 Sonic RS.

So far I love the car, but I find the performance lacking. I intend to do intake and a cat-back but I would like to hear some opinions on the different manufacturers.

I am still under warranty but I want to tune it. So I was looking at the Diablosport trinity. mostly so I can go back to factory when I need to, any thoughts on it?

Intakes all do the same thing within reason. MPFab is a genuine enthusiast that makes his top shelf work available to the rest of us. DDM and K&N good quality as well. They all provide the same function and power (but none will be fully utilized without a tune, they'll just make more noise which is still pretty cool)

BnR or Trifecta for tunes, and either can be reverted to stock as necessary. Plug and play generic boxes are not worth the money when for about $100 more you get a real tune from a company that has logged thousands of miles on their tunes and can be counted to deliver power and reliability

Thanks for your input, my other reason for the diablo is the ability to somewhat* tune it myself. we only have 90 octane here, and that keeps me from wanting the other options. hptuners is on my radar as well but I am by no means qualified for that.

For an intake, I have the MPFab and believe Morgan's quality is 2nd to none. There are cheaper alternatives out there too.

Tune, talk to Jerry at BNR. He uses EFILive and the EFILive AutoCal hardware to deliver your tunes. You keep your stock tune loaded on the AutoCal or pc, and can flash between whichever tunes you like at any time (just like DiabloSport). Plus, since he's customizing the tune to fit your vehicle, he can play with the spark/cam timing to adjust for 90 octane.

my other issue is the damn slow rev down, how much of that is tune and how much is stupid heavy flywheel?

No problem. I'd say its probably 33% tune and 66% flywheel, BUT I dont have a lightenend flywheel so only know what it feels like tuned...Tune alone makes a huge difference.
