Hey guys. I have been a Sonic owner since May 2012. I have a simple white 2012 Sonic sedan, nothing fancy added, but I still love this thing :D

I am a software guy, not much of a mechanic, so I treasure this awesome resource and hopefully you guys can bear with me while I continue enjoying my Sonic.

On a side note, is there anything custom I can do with my Sonic software wise, or is that all pretty locked down? I would love to start ******* this thing when my warranty is up! ;)

Welcome. There's probably stuff you can hack on the BCM that could make some people happy. Adding a boost read out option on the DIC would make a ton of us happy as well as instantanious mpg, water temp, etc. I know there was a guy doing this with the Terrain's while I was on that forum, but he was ******* the BCM and DVD as well.

I am very interested in being able to interface with the DIC. I just can't seem to find any resources as far as what language it would be in or how to I interface with that module. I would love a customized menu that showed temp etc easier.

You will need an OBD II cable, that is how GM flashes updates to the ECM, TCM and BCM. Not sure what language it uses, I know Vince at Trifecta has mentioned being able to access and modify it but it's not what he does. Maybe getting on www.wot-tuning.com might help you a little more with your interest in cracking the BCM code.

I'm banking on you being wrong. The tune has a transparent mode, proven to be undetectable (at a dealer level). I got the tune even though I'm pretty conservative, the car is so much quicker now! It improved performance more than I expected. I do understand your concern though. I plan on flashing back to stock when I go in for service.

EFILive doesn't currently have support. I guess that choice was easy. ;P

Or does it? I'll have to check. I haven't looked into it in ages.

I got the Trifecta tune through BNR (Bad News Racing), Eric has a link in his signature. They have a sale until the 31th ($300 for tune and red cable, normally $465). I bought mine on black Friday, already got the cable, the tune and an updated tune based on a data log.

I'm sure other tuners are good as well.

Usually the cable is $150 and the tune is $315. Support is free afterward, unless you do a major modification. I'm not sure what counts as a major mod.

I think major mods are new turbos or something big along those lines. I know support covers intakes, exhaust, downpipes, porting your intake ect.
