My 2014 Sonic 1.8 has been driving me crazy! At random points of my trips throughout the day i’ll attempt to start my Sonic only to be greeted by a code 84 which to my understanding is limp mode and reduced power but it ran perfectly fine before parked it?? And when I start my Sonic, the engine starts to shake and misfire which it wasn’t doing before i parked it. And after a few hours i’ll start it back up and it forgets it ever had a code 84 and doesn’t show a single sign of misfiring which is driving me insane. This never happens whenever i cold start the vehicle though so there seems to be a trend with the vehicle being on for a period of time. I replaced camshaft sensors and vvt solenoids due to related engine codes but as of right now there’s only a driver 5 line 2 code which i’ve been getting mixed solutions to what it could be such as a throttle position sensor and things relating to the ignition system which both the ignition coils and the spark plugs were replaced after this issue began and still didn’t fix it! The previous owner did a lazy install on the throttle body inlet hose connecting to the thermostat which has barely started to drip coolant onto the thermostat after a few months of ignoring it which makes me think it could be the throttle body or something related to that but what doesn’t make sense to me is how this issue could just randomly happen and go away after a few hours of leaving the car off. Please help or provide experiences and opinions on this anything said helps.
