HELP!!! Something very important fell behind glovebox

Hello,

This morning I put something about the size of a cell phone and about 2lbs in my glovebox and slammed it shut because some stuff was causing it to stick open. I immediately heard a thud and some after-thuds.

When I got to work, I took out the glovebox and the panel to the right of the center console and I could not find it anywhere.

Please help. This item is very important and expensive. Any advice is appreciated.

I did take the glovebox out, but I still couldn't find it. I had to sit and think about where it could have fallen inside of that cavity and I found it in a small area next to the stereo.

Get one of these instead and wrap the cable around the seat frame, that way you can at least lock it in the car and way safer than just in the glove box. Just tossing it in the glove box is a bad idea for the most part.

LMAO I fell out of my chair reading this. Yeah I’m with these guys on the lock boxes. Last thing you want too is somebody smashing a window taking it. Their are some good solutions on the market today. That can be easily accessed when needed. I think harbor freight sells a good cheap one you can use. Anything can be stolen these days but hiding it out of the way and keeping it locked but still accessible will buy you time from it being lost or stolen as the car alarm is going off.

I had buddy’s keeping them in glove compartments of boats. Was a great idea lol every body knew where it was after a few beers. Too many idiots today to trust where you keep the 9mm. Some cars have some good lockable glove boxes. Others don’t. Chevy Sonic nothing.

Try to lock it up but make sure you can access it. That one box with the metal cord. Those work pretty good. Plenty of places to secure those boxes under the seat etc.

Plus the Police generally appreciate these things locked up and stored appropriately. Your ever pulled over you can say under seat secured in a box. They won’t go crazy as if you say in glove box. Lol.

I’ve used those before for various things. They work pretty good. You can get creative with those. . I don’t believe in not having these things locked up. Even if your just going to the range. You should be able to get to it lawfully but it should be locked up where it can’t get lost or stolen as easily.

I’m in Illinois unless you have a concealed carry the law is this:

Illinois generally prohibits a person from knowingly carrying or possessing a firearm in any vehicle except in the person’s own home, land, fixed place of business, or as an invitee on the land or in the legal dwelling of another person as an invitee with that person’s permission.1 The statute does not apply, however, to the transportation of firearms that are:

1. broken down in a non-functioning state;
2. not immediately accessible; or
3. unloaded and enclosed in a case, firearm carrying box, shipping box, or other container by a person with a currently valid Firearm Owner’s Identification card.2

So their are ways to do it. Just look at your states laws. I don’t generally carry mine in my car. But it’s worth noting. Theirs some ways to transport it or carry it. Most states are similar some are more lenient. Glove box is always a bad idea lol. Can’t argue the glove box if a police officer has a problem. If it’s locked and secured you generally can.

Ah lock boxes are only as good as the lock. Most key locks are like master locks, a rake and a tensioner and about 3 seconds of time are enough to open it up. Barrel locks are a little more intensive to pick, but they aren’t infallible either. Aka add another minute or so. Yeah any lockup solution has its share of pros and cons.
