Hi everyone. About to pick up a Sonic

I'm about to pick up a 2012 Sonic 1LT 1.4T 6MT sedan in Black with gray cloth. It is used with only 9600 miles and thre price is $14,535, which seems like a pretty good deal to me.

It's kind of a step down for me as I will be getting rid of a 2010 Jetta Wolfsburg Edition 2.0T 6MT with tan leather and stage 2 software, intercooler and downpipe (about 260hp/310ft-lbs). The main problems with the Jetta were fuel economy, reliability and that it made too much power for FWD. 1st and 2nd gear were useless at full throttle because it would just spin the tires. Plus I do almost all of my driving in the city on 35-45mph roads, and 21-23mpg with premium fuel was starting to get old.

I also autocross quite a bit, 6-8 events per year, and I think the Sonic will make a better auto-crosser than the Jetta. I plan to run it stock for a while, and then get another set of wheels for the street and put race rubber on the stock wheels for the track. Then eventually I'll do shocks/springs or coilovers, rear sway bar, and some power mods.

I think you'll like the better mileage in the sonic, I average around 33 mixed city and highway and I drive like an ass.

thanks everyone! that pic above is at the honda dealer before I left, next to my old jetta (I was never crazy about the mkv vw styling). it's dark out because it took them over 2.5 hours to close out the paperwork on a deal that had already been negotiated on friday/saturday! i didn't need to drive it or talk about the price at all.. unbelievable. i guess that's what happens when you try to buy a car from an understaffed dealer at 4:30 on a sunday. i'll get some better pics of her in my driveway tomorrow.

also, i would've been there earlier but on the way to the dealer my jetta decides to blow a coil pack! the car started misfiring in cyl 1 and running really rough and a CEL pops on. I thought, "OMG! the car freaking knows that I'm going to trade it in." I was like a block from home so I limp back home and call the dealer and tell them that I'm going to have to take it to VW to have the problem fixed under warranty (for the second time), and that it would probably be tuesday before I could get the sonic. I'm about to go back inside my house when the sales guy calls me back and says to bring the car anyway, because they saw that it was fine on friday and would fix it in their pre-sale inspection before they offered it for sale used. so I traded in a car running on 3 cylinders! :banana:

According to the carfax, I guess the Sonic's history is that someone bought it locally in april, put 9600 miles on it and then traded it in for a honda in november it did show three non-maintenance service visits in that time: 2 "check for coolant/water leak" and one "hard start/no-start. I saw the name of the local dealer where it was serviced, so maybe I can call them to find out more of the car's history. I just hope this car stays out of the shop more than my VW.

First and second? I spun in third today 42 mph chirp, pretty funny. I don't complain about too much power though, the tires mostgly bite down I don't think I'm losing too much to spin.

yeah I could chirp 3rd in the Jetta too. what I meant was that was the first gear I could go full throttle without spinning all the way through the gear
