More contact patch I'm guessing. Why do sportier cars try and stuff as much tire in the wheels as they can? Also, I would have went with at 215 if the 225's would have looked right on the LTZ 17's, maybe he liked the way the 235's fill out the fenders and they fit without rubbing.
