Hooking up LEDs to amp AND toggle?

Here's a good one for ya:

If I wanted to put LEDs in my car and get them to pulse with the music, and still be able to turn them on and off when I chose, would I run power wire from the amp up to a toggle switch and then back to the LED strip? and what if sometimes I didn't want them to pulse but just wanted them on? I'm so confused... :/

hmm seems like a good remedy... I was thinking more along the lines of a DIY project box but this seems like a lot less hassle
