Honestly I wouldn't worry until you're hitting 1500+ watts. I'm not sure how much the stock battery/alternator can handle, but they're usually pretty good.
All my previous Saturn's and my Cobalt have good electrical systems. The most I've run is 600W RMS, but I know each of my cars could take a lot more. There were plenty of Saturn owners running more on stock alternator, upgrading was only needed past 1-2k watts. There are a number of Cobalt people running massive systems and don't have any issues.
The obvious thing would be, just don't run a system too long on battery only. But that's common sense.
