I Propose Chevy Do This As A Sonic

Super Sports Study for Geneva Motor Show: Opel Astra OPC EXTREME

It is no secret I prefer two door to four door and this could easily go down the line with the Sonic and the Verano.

There are not a lot of details (engine or trans) but this does not look like a Buick to me. Not now and not ever!

I would like to point out that people who prefer two doors must either have no friends or never do anything with their car.

If you do have friends then you would know the royal PITA it is getting in and out of a two door car.

Most of my friends have or still do own a coupe. I dont have any issue getting in and out of them.

2 doors = racecar! I had a 2 door for ever and loved it. even with having a family i still loved it.

I've said it before and I'll stand behind it. Building a car with two rows of seats and only 1 row of doors is like building a room in a house and making it so you have to climb through a window to get in and out. It doesn't effect the cars performance in any manner but does make it damn awkward at times.

Most of America has had the "more is better!" attitude towards everything except car doors. Wtf?

I've owned a few 2-door cars, including a GTO, a Golf, a TJ Wranger.

A two-door hatch is fine, however a coupe is terrible for versatility.

I dont care if It's 2 doors or 4 doors if it had this roofline I'd buy it regardless of how many doors it has. That 2 or 3 inch lower roof makes the Sonic look much sportier. Probably couldn't wear a Abe Lincoln top hat in it like the current Sonic .



That Opel sounds badass, I love driver oriented cars. If I'm reading correctly it looks to only be a couple grand more than a Focus ST and is fully track ready....... Do want.

I think it looks pretty badass as a two-door. I'm not saying I would buy it though. I'm in my mid 30's and have had enough two-door cars. They really are a pain to get people/ stuff in and out of. I love the versatility and space offered in my hatchback.

Then again, if GM can stuff a V6 into that little coupe, I may look at one for a fun leisure ride. I used to have a 93 Dodge Shadow ES coupe with the 3.0L V6 and I loved it. Go-kart driving like the Sonic but with a lot more oomph.

I own a coupe and I know what you mean when you have to put ppl in the back.

Here is a something that some of you may not know, all the civic coupes generations here in North America, Japan never had any of those civic coupes only in 4drs.

Me too! As long as it had a more powerful powerplant than the current offerings. I have no need for 4 doors. Usually just me and the wife in the car.

The roof line looks good, but I'm concerned it will be like my 06 Grandprix was. Duck to get in and out of it.

That is a second reason I probably wouldn't buy it.

Sorry to be a negative nelly on this one but I like the Sonic the way it is as far as how it functions.

If they made this car, I would look at getting one. If they make it with at least a 2.0L turbo, I'll consider it. If the make it with a 2.0T and AWD, I'll beg for two of them.

I'm not too set on the two-door look. I think GM did a great job making the hatchback look like it only has two doors but still maintaining the functionality of four doors. (as long as your passengers can find the door handle)

Happened to me, too. I went up north to Chicago to visit my parents last August. My mother get in the front seat and my dad was standing out there like "how am I supposed to get in now".

Jeeesuss that's beautiful, get rid of the mustache and I'll buy one tomorrow.

It's no secret on this forum that I prefer 2-doors (that's why I have my Fiero), and with the aggressiveness of the Sonic in a 2-door, I'd be all over that.
