In the previous post Scott Settlemire (fbodfather) answers the question about a specific CTF and the link in this one answers the question in general.

A VIN with X can not be sold and Chevy requires witnesses to it is crushed. I may be wrong about a car with an X in the VIN being revinned, I admit my memory is imperfect, but if a find a thread explaining how it is done, I will be back.

Hopefully before any member of this forum questions the credentials of the fbodfather they will do a search. No human person is more responsible for the return of the Chevy Camaro than he and there are so many references to that point that I would be embarrassed for any member who questioned his credentials without searching. And, of course, once one has completed a search there will be no need to question.

But GM is GM and Chevy is Chevy and I have more experience with Camaro than other Chevy nameplates, and Chevy basically operates the same from vehicle line to vehicle line.

The internal use cars that he is referring to are salable builds driven by GM Execs and then either sold through the PEP program to lower level employees or sent to auction with the CTF cars.

No car is ever re-VINed, period. X cars are crushed or turned into mules.

Speaking of X-cars, there used to be an odd mini Alpha mule that was comprised of a Solstice front end grafted to the firewall back portion of a 2004/5 Cavalier sedan. It was on a flatbed headed for the crusher at Milford when I saw it.

This is really serious and not a joke or lie I just got a call from this number 3135565000 and the woman told me she is an GM rep in Detroit and that she has news for me and she made me confirm my VIN then said thats there sending all new paperwork and 2013 owners manuals to my dealer and they will call me when I need to pick them up.. so is GM telling me that my 2012 Sonic LT is a 2013 now?!

Did you get the name of the person who called you? If so, you may want to call back and let them know what happened or maybe someone could assist you. But the number that called you was our GM Headquarters Operator, in Detroit, MI.
