First off, I'm a noob when talking about exhaust. All I really need to know is that increased flow out = better performance. I have a 1.4 with the MT. It is trifecta tuned. I would like to improve upon the stock exhaust, but I have no desire to make it louder, or deeper in any fashion. Any suggestions as to what exhaust system which would give me that slight performance hit I desire without changing the exhaust note significantly? Thanks in advance for any input.

You're not going to get one without the other, you can significantly reduce the noise. Get the ZZP turbo back with a high flow cat and muffler and then have an 18" Magnaflow resonator welded into the mid pipe.

I had an SLP with a Magnaflow muffler swapped in the rear and with no cats it sounded great. Not to quite but absolutely no drone or offensive sounds at any engine speed.
