From what I have read on the forum, yes. Running the pipe over the top of the engine results in a warmer air temp as it enters the turbo. Newer designs have a much shorter tube that goes directly to the side instead of curling around.

I own one. Is it ideal way to design the intake? No. But, I do get much better bottom end torque than the stock box. I had k&n on my Cruze, and I can't tell a difference between the two.

Supposedly, this set up is worse for performance, but more ideal for better gas mileage.

I didn't see much of a difference in mpg when I had a DDM Intake though, so I can't really say anything there.

I have one and it works just fine. A marked improvement over the standard box with Trifecta tune. People have a hard on for this set up for some reason. Could it be better? Of course. Are the others much better when increasing HP on a 1.4T engine... marginal. Looks good, Sounds Good, Performs well in both Response and MPG. In fact, I'm in the middle of a record MPG run (for me). Could hit close to 500 miles on this tank (and Premium does get better mileage with a tune).
