Installed some ProSport gauges in the Sonic

These are the "Halo" series form ProSport.
I wanted them as close the factory tach/display as possible. Used some left over billet fuel rail adapters along with modified gauge cups from some STRI gauges I've got in my Evo.
Fairly straight forward install. However, getting the spacing correct so that the gauge cups didn't obscure the view of the tach, or interfere with the function of the turn signal/wiper stalks on the column took some time.

Gauges look great. A boost sweep is so much more comprehensive than a digi read out on the Ultragauge. It's been on my to-do list way too long. I need to do that.

I love you and hate you all at the same time...Why didn't I think of this before drilling a 2" inch hole in my dash!! your water temp is hooked up where exactly? did you buy the fitting and split your rad hose to connect the sensor there?

A long while back I had a car, I think the Vega, without a temperature gauge so I installed an oil temperature gauge. The sensor was the oil drain plug. I still had an idiot light for the water temperature.

Haha! I spent a lot of time trying to figure out where to put those damn things. I like the dash layout, but it made it hell when it came to gauge placement.
I moved the coolant tank and split the upper radiator hose on the driver's side. I then installed an aluminum adapter I made that houses the sensor.
Works like a champ

That's a really clean setup. I'm usually not a fan of how aftermarket gauges look but that's excellently placed and the color match adds to it.

I've seen these on ebay, they seem like a real slick way to add a temp sensor. It seems like the gauge shouldn't register anything until the engine is getting close to normal operating temp and the thermostat starts opening though, right? Do you find that the temp gauge reads pretty accurately compared to, say the reading on an Ultragauge for example?

The temp starts to come up after a few minutes. The thermostat is electronically controlled so it's not as much of a "light switch" as a mechanical thermostat. Temp get to 150deg fairly quickly and then slows down before settling between 190-200. Sitting in traffic I see 210-218.

Where did you hook into the factory lighting for the gauges? Is there a specific color wire you tapped?
