K&N 69 intake

Morning,

Has anyone tried the K&N 69 intake? part number 69-4521TS. I've seen it on the sonic and the instructions for install are done for the Cruze. any thoughts? I'm thinking of giving it a go.

If it's not specifically engineered for the Sonic, I personally wouldn't use it.

The ZZP intake isn't engineered for the sonic either but it works on both.

personally, I would spend the extra cash and get an ZZP or DDM works intake.
They have metal tubes and better mounting usually. I have not been too impressed with some of the ways K&N mounts their intakes.

On the other hand, its K&N. If the intake is poop, send it back. Simple

I considered using the K&N, but the fitment looked like it would be wrong on the heatshield... but who knows. I mean I can tell you the ZZP is a tight fit behind the passenger head light / radiator core support. Now that DDM intake is coming out, I'll likely go that direction instead and sell my ZZP.

Savage_383, lets be fair ... the ZZP fits the car, but will most likely cause you issues unless you tune for it on most cars. I deal with it because I enjoy the sound, but putting this intake on my car has caused random CEL's and a slight idle stumble. I mean heck you had the thread on it

I agree totally, don't get me wrong. The ZZP has given me some trouble. I just prefer the looks of the ZZP over the others.

If you plan on tuning your car anyways, then the ZZP or DDM intake will both do the job.

If you don't plan on tuning the car, the DDM is the way to go. I have not heard if the K&N throws any CEL's or not.

Just remember that you wont get much performance gain from installing an intake. Just sound, which is the #1 reason I bought mine anyways. haha!

I believe Vince with Trifecta said he hasn't seen "much" gain from an aftermarket intake vs. the stock intake.

The existing intake looks to be pretty efficient...no oddball routing, air silencers, etc. Betting a K&N drop in would offer a nice performance gain compared to the filter-on-a-stick intakes.

I wonder if you could use one from the Cruze and rerout it a bit? Just a thought
