I had mine break a couple of weeks ago, noticed the sound coming from the engine. It also caused the heat panel to vibrate so much it rubbed a corner of the rubber surround off. Called K&N, and they sent out a replacement bracket and rubber surround no questions asked. But do not email them! They are very busy and won't reply for weeks I here, so take the time and call them.

@tweaterben I thought about calling them and seeing if they could send me out another one but I figured if it happened once it would happen again so I just fabbed up a bracket that uses existing holes in the shield and the fender.

Two months later, and now I have the same problem. I wonder if testing out the "no lift shift" feature tweaked the engine a bit too much. Sheared the L bracket on the motor mount at the bend, and the rubber is worn through at the cowl.

I think the best thing would be to run a bracket using the preexisting holes on the heat shield to the hole on the fender. Since I've done that fix I haven't had any problems. The only thing is once the filter needs cleaning the whole bracket will then have to come off. minor set back.

I've also worn through the rubber at the cowl, gonna poke around under there while I'm porting my intake manifold tonight and see what's up. I've had to re-tighten all the bolts on the shield at least once, guess I'll need to get out the Loctite.

I think the bracket wasn't designed with ppl beating on the car in mind. lol

so 3 months into the new bracket and no problems yet.
