Loud ticking exhaust

I have this loud ticking coming from my exhaust when the car is warm and turn on/off it sounds almost exactly like the sound in the video that I linked except a bit more frequent...any ideas what it is? I'm not sure if it started when I got the tune or not.

It's an after market cat back, sounds like it's comming from after resonator or from it rather?

Try reflashing to stock, see if you still have the same ticking. Doesnt sound like an exhaust leak. I've heard other vehicles that make a ticking sound from the cat but it is not very frequent, and sounds kind of tinny (not tiny).

Maybe you have a rock in your exhaust , I have seen that happen before .

Possible contraction of the metal as it cools. Happens on some cars.

If it happens after you shut the car off I wouldn't believe it to be a problem. As stated above the metals are cooling at different temperature rates causing the noise.. I'm not able to load that video at this time to hear if that's what it sounds like, but if its what I think it is there will be an intermttent "tink.......tink..tink.....tink" sound from the exhaust after the car is shut down..

At anyrate if it doesn't sound like it should be happening schedule an appointment with a dealer and explain the problem and when/where it happens and get their input

i third that idea, my cutlass started doing this after i put in a new exhaust.

It is entirely possible that it's been doing this since I had gotten the exhaust put in I've only been really foucing on car sounds since i'vee gotten the tune. ...yes i'm still worried about blowing the motor.... (even my gf told me to can it and just enjoy it)

My Mazda made the same sounds just not as loud and fast. I'm going to bring it by the exhaust shop this week and have them take a look, they hold the exhaust warrenty <--- yes my exhaust came with one

I had a exhaust leak on my gmc and it was ticking, and as you gave it gas the faster it would tick !! I tightened all the bolts on the headers and noticed one missing from either the factory or came out but I replaced that and done the ticking was all gone

now that it's been heated up a few times it may just be metal shiriking back to normal...

i know it's not a bmw...but the bmw fix is to loosten the exhaust bolts that mouth to the cat...and retighten them back up. simple, effective, and it works 99% if the time.

so...losten the bolts and tighten them back up and see where you are.

could be simply just that the metal is under stress and is going back to 'normal'...which may not be normal now that the metal has been heat treated

I'm going to take a look today, I think it is just cooling down. It does happen when the car is on and off but only when it's warmed up. I'm not too worried about it, it's just kinda anoying

It is the exhaust resonator getting really hot and cooling down. All is well
