Moisture inside windshield

Hi All checking in on an issue noted on my daughters 2012 LT. It is not very frequent but on occasion there is moisture on the inside windshield.

Anyone else with this occurrence and root cause? Car is still under coverage thanks.

Assuming you are in cold climate. Excess moisture inside the car from snow etc. turns into humidity when heater warms the air. Then it gets parked and the vapor freezes on the windshield, pretty common.
Now if no external moisture is introduced, like snow, the I would look for a leak in the cabin.

Wow, that's a lot. I occasionally get it right at the bottom where the heat comes out but only sometimes.

It'll also freeze to the window when you first get into a cold car. Breath through your nose to reduce it. It's also a good idea to make sure the recirc is off during the last few minutes of driving to replace the moist inside air with dry outside air.

Mine was like that for the first time this morning. 5*F. Don't know if its the because of the low temps.

I've had that problem from day one. Even on cool summer mornings when it was very humid. The dealer found no leaks. Said it was common and to just run the recurculation when using the heater.

Thanks all. It's currently very cold (I am not there) but when I was in December I noticed it by the vent. I told her to only use the defroster using outside vent air and not to recirculate.

With no passenger 99% of the time, I am guessing this is a design problem or an outright failure of the heater core (I think this is unlikely) but I figured I would chime in and see who else has seen this.

Happens to me on a fairly regular basis. Mostly after it has snowed or been wet outside after which the temperature goes down outside and i find ice inside the next day.

Step into car with snowy feet. Snow melts. Evaporates. Condenses and freezes over night.

I've noticed it on my Sonic, too. Bad enough that I have to clean the inside glass with Windex every week or so to remove the water spots that condense on the interior glass surfaces.

Like all other said, that's humidity freezing on the inside. Not an issue and happens in very cold temps. Happened to me when I used to live up north.

I just find it odd that this is the only car that we have seen this with.

My 88 bronco 2 did it, and depending on how much snow you tracked it. My Lincoln would do it too

Condensation/Frost on the windshield

So I purchased a 2013 Chevy Sonic last Feb (2013). In April/May 2013, I experienced my first issue with condensation. This problem kept occurring every couple of months and I kept taking it to the dealership. At some point I got a new windshield and new seals. In Dec 2013, my windshield had an inch of ice on the inside and the dealership was completely in shock. They had the car for about a week and thought they fixed it. Then in Jan 2014, I had another issue with frost on the inside. Dealership put me in a loaner and had the car for just about a month. They stated that the seals by the wiper blades were bad. Guess what, on Feb 16, 2014...I had frost again. Come to find out I have a crack in the trunk area and there was visible thick ice under the spare tire. Not sure if this is common or not but this isn't my first car owning and I've never had this issue before.

Anytime that there is excessive window fogging or frosting on the interior there HAS to be source of moisture. Glad that it was finally found! It is not uncommon for a minor fogging issue to be present when there is a lot of rain and people get in the car with wet coats etc also applies to snow being tracked into the interior.
