I have a 2014 Chevy Sonic and it hasn't had any problems until May, 2023. I started getting water in the spare tire area of the hatchback. I had it to my local garage plus a dealer 3 times and they keep saying it's the drain from the sunroof clogged. If that's the case, then why was it not an issue in the first 8 years?! Every time it rains hard, I get water again. This morning the temp outside was in 30s so I hit remote start from my apartment. When I went out to my car, it wasn't completely defrosted so I scraped windows. When I got in, I noticed the windshield was dripping with moisture/condensation on the INSIDE so I had to get a towel to dry the window which is now all streaked and spotted. I've had this issue a few times before the water in the spare tire well started which is what made me check it today. I need to get these issues resolved. I'm retired and cannot afford another car. I have another call in to the dealer waiting for callback from service. Any suggestions? There are ZERO recalls on my VIN #.

I too have a 2014 Chevy sonic with a mysterious water leak. I haven't noticed water in my spare tire, however it comes in from a few different places in the front of the car on the driver's and passenger side. I bought the car brand new and it has had this leaking problem since day 1, I just didn't realize how big of a problem it was. If it rains hard or I take it through a car wash, my floor board will be soaked. Even if I don't drive it and it rains, the inside will be heavily condensated and I have to shop vac a ton of water out. So it stays covered 90% of the time :/
Did you find a resolution? What did the dealership say? I'm going to test some areas this afternoon to see if it's coming in from the windshield. Will report back if I figure it out. Good luck.

They told me it was a leak in the sunroof drain. Final "solution" was to drill tiny pinholes in the underside of the car in the spare tire area to let the water drain out. Now the water is not laying there, but I have a DampRid bag next to the spare tire and it is absorbing water/moisture, keeping it dry. After that last "fix" the dealer told me they couldn't work on my car any more! I think it's because I left a negative but truthful review of their services (LONG story). GM followed up with me and the dealer, but when the dealer ditched me, GM said they couldn't make a dealer work with me and everything got dropped. So much for customer satisfaction! I've been a strictly Chevy owner for years and wanted this to be my last car, but now if I had to buy another car...not so sure...
