my dealership experience

I took my sonic in to Anthony Chevrolet in Fairmont, WV today for three issues:

1) Grinding while shifting into 2nd under medium-high acceleration. (pretty much all the time, which forces me to take it easy in 1st most of the time)

2) Cruise control creep (I started a thread on that)

3) MyLink update

First off let me say the car is 100% stock except for Pedders coilovers. I have no tune at all. I was waiting for HPTuners support.

I was told that my whole warranty was voided due to my UltraGauge (they gave me the bulletin that was posted on the forum, which does not say it was voided)

They refused to look at my car even for the transmission issue. (The lady up front said they had no transmission guy and acted like they should have told me that when I called in the appointment.)

They repeatedly asked me during the initial phone call and today if the car "came from here." They finally told me to "take it back to Premier" (Morgantown, WV where I bought the car, which is much farther away.)

I will say that I got angry and lost my cool and told the guy he was real F-ing ignorant. I regret that very much and will probably call back to apologize even though I obviously will not take the car back to them again. I am under a lot of stress between work and school and issues with my wife and this time off work to get nothing done was not helpful to me at all. :( Just having these guys acting like they somehow got one over on me because they don't have to work on my car was just really aggravating.

BTW I tested the cruise control without the ultragauge plugged in at all and it still has the problem, therefore it does not appear to be the cause.

I have decided to put the car up for sale. It is clear that I can't get it properly serviced around here. I wasn't crazy happy with it anyway. Maybe I will be able to get it fixed and keep it and maybe not. I'll probably start a for sale thread later today.

I feel your pain! I have had the worst experiance so far with the dealeri bought my sonic from. This is my first brand new car and it has a knock at idle. The dealer I got it from after listening said the called the engineering department who said a little knock in the engine is ok...so I took it and hour away to another dealer for another opinion and they said hell no and replaced all the lifters. Now I have the closer dealer calling me saying they will listen to the sound again Monday when I think they need to do something to fix this. So you aren't the only one man!

Well maybe yours was a technical error. Mine was all policy nonsense. This is the stuff service advisors should be up to date on.

Well, I still am very remiss for my behavior. That was not how I normally would act in this kind of situation. I took it very personally and I am sure they did not mean it that way. I hope I can get it resolved. I am taking it to Morgantown next week to see if Premier Chevrolet can address my issues. In the meantime, the car is back in its garage where the UG is probably doing all kinds of horrible things to it!

And thanks to the American taxpayer (of which I am one) I am able to continue to drive the cars I like. Well, to an extent, as the Stingray is quite likeable but not necessarily affordable. But it being a true two door and can be ordered in Velocity Yellow does make it tempting.

Thansk for the advice on the DM guys. I may do that. I am waiting on Vanessa to get back to me though. She was going to call them today I was told.

Laborsmith, we will never fix our economy by continuing to prop up the losers. Capitalism works by letting winners absorb losers and hopefully make them better. Of course, you can argue that the very government that "saved" GM is responsible for its problems due to all the power that unions were given through laws that made it impossible to go outside the union or even not deal with it any longer.
