2020 Chevy Sonic RS automatic transmission bought new May 2020, 12,500 miles.
Thursday afternoon the Engine light illuminated on the dash.
Chev dealer service department informed me that I had a
"P0299 Turbocharger/Supercharger "A" Underboost Condition".
I was told that "it's okay to drive", which so far it has been.
Yesterday afternoon, 48 hours after the engine light came on, I started the car, and NO engine light!
I made several stops and starts running errands, and the light has yet to return.
I'm supposed to drop off the car at the dealer tomorrow afternoon. They said it'll be probably a 3 day job, given that they have to remove so many parts/components to access the problem.
I've heard so many times that "when they have to tear out so much of the engine, your new car is never the same again".
For that reason, I'm wondering if I should have the repair done.
It'll cost me nothing, and I'll get a loaner vehicle, but I'm afraid it'll unleash a multitude of problems going forward.
Am I wrong? Should I go ahead with the repair, or wait for the engine light to appear again?
Any thoughts or advice will be much appreciated.
