Need more out of stock headlights. Could use some advice.

So as of right now switching out those bulbs was well worth it to me. The big question is how long will they last. Only time will tell.

My first set on my GMT360 truck with intergrated low beam DRL's lasted 3years. Not too shabby since I drive a ton for work at night. I probably could of had more life out of them if I modded my truck with a DRL killer, but safety is always first in my book.

I just put the H11 ultra's low beams in my Sonic and my light output is night and day to stock bulbs. Amazon has them for $34.87.

Just curious, did the standard Sylvania high performance bulb seem brighter and wider for your high beams (over stock bulbs)? Would like to buy the high beam ultra's too.

Yeah the high beams were much better at getting an even spread of light with the upgraded bulbs. Much better light coverage.

I have been getting off of work later these days and driving home in pitch black night. I drive a lot of small county roads with no street lights. The problem I have is my current stock lights are not getting the job done especially when it rains.

Is there a bulb I can buy that can get me a wider angle on the road because I feel like I am turning blind on some of the curves where if I didn't already know the road I would be a bit worried. I have already had a few scares with people walking on the side of the road where I don't see them until i'm basically on top of them. The depth of the light seems fine for looking down the center of the road but the problem is the sides.

I would prefer to not have to do some radical modifications and maybe just help me with a quick fix like some nicer bulbs or is there a way possibly to aim the lights slightly more to the sides?

I don't understand how different bulbs are supposed to produce a wider beam without a modification to the reflective housing or style of the bulb? Do these bulbs that advertise a wider beam actually work?

Sylvania Silverstar Ultra's for lows, Sylvania zXe's for highs

I live in the Pacific Northwest and the best all-around lowbeam bulb for me is the Sylvania SilverStar Ultra, hands down!

I've had them in my 2012 Sonic LTZ Hatchback since I purchased it brand-new in December 2011 and haven't had any regrets. It's the right temperature color (not too warm, not too cool).
At 4,100K, I've found it to be the best color spectrum for nighttime driving in inclement weather.
As an added "Oomph!" my highbeams have the Sylvania zXe bulbs for maximum performance. The zXe temperature color is slightly higher (cooler) at 4,200K.

For Sonics that have fog lights, I highly recommend the PIAA Plasma Ion Yellow bulbs. The bulbs temperature color is at 2,500K which gives it a very warm yellow glow to cut through the thickest fog and helps you see at night through the driving rain. The manufacture claims the H8 35W bulb is as bright as a 70W bulb. They're a little spendy, but it's been working for me since 2012 and I'd buy them again! Shop around to find the best price!

Putco nite-lux led replacement bulbs, 2500 lumens each and for in the stock housing with no modification. There not cheap but there made in the USA and are way better than HID with no heat issues.

I have them in my highs lows and fogs. Chrome Trim, LED Lighting, Car Accessories, Truck Accessories, and Grilles from Putco

In addition to improving your car, call in to the township and let them know the bad spots. They may improve streetlightinv or at least put down some edge line.

Without the factory fog lights turned on, I am experiencing the same issue with my headlights on. In addition to Sylvania and Phillips, I am also looking into Hella and PIAA
headlight bulbs.

When I got my Sonic, I immediately changed out my low and high beam lights for ZXEs, and have NEVER had any issues with being able to see, and most people (if your headlights are properly adjusted) won't think you have your highbeams on when you're using your lowbeams. they cost about $60 a pair and I have never regretted buying them.

I'd look into a big 3/ground upgrade in wiring as well

Also, if you upgrade to higher wattage bulbs always use plenty of dielectric grease. If doubles as a heat sink aid as well. Nothing like learning that the hard way.
