2015 LTZ sedan 1.4 turbo auto 128,000 miles
Just bought it a few days ago.
I bought it with a engine light on that’s showing low boost code.
And there was a chirping under valve cover.
After some research I found the vacuum diaphragm built into the valve cover was bad and also the car had a oil leak because I could smell it burning and at night you would see a little smoke out in front of the head lights when parked.
So I went to eBay and ordered and valve cover that came with gasket and order a new turbo that came with new exhaust manifold
So I changed the valve cover and put the new turbo and manifold on which was a lot easier said than done I might add. Also changed spark plugs and fresh oil change and filter while I was at it.
At this point I’m expecting all my problems are fixed and this car is ready to make my girlfriend and great little car.
so I take it for a drive and I don’t get 1/4 mile down the road and the temp light comes on and the cars warning system is ringing so I turn around and drive it back to my shop and add more coolant an it fixed the over heating problem. Then I drive it around town for 20 minutes and engine light comes on right away so I take it to oreillys to have them plug there diagnostics meter up and it’s showing low boost and low coolant flow. (I’m sure the low coolant flow was just triggered where it was low on coolant. And it’s staying at good operating temps now) and when I got it home I noticed a extra amount of oil dripping on the shop floor so I pop the hood and there is oil all over the top of the passenger side of the intake manifold I can clean it up. Take the valve cover off and make sure gasket is in place and put it back on and bolt it down. Car will sit and run at idle with no leaks. Drive it down the road and back 5 minutes and when I get back oil is all of the top of the intake manifold again. It does have a antifreeze drip which I think is from the coolant line on turbo which I’m afraid the turbo has to come back off to fix which really sucks.
so in conclusion my problem is oil leak on top back of engine some where (starting to think it’s a pcv problem) , the coolant leak, and low boost code.
I’m a above average mechanic and there ain’t much I haven’t worked on but instead of chasing problems and throwing parts at it I know these forums can be very helpful and there is usually people here that know these cars better than the dealerships that are the so called professionals so I’m asking for your alls experience and thoughts.
Appreciate your help more than you know!
Thanks
Josh
