New Camera Mount Test Video...

I bought me a new Camera mount to use to make videos of my Sonic. I got me a Fat Gecko Mini Camera Mount Setup by Delkin Devices from amazon. Its a very nice unit. Very solid. works just as it advertises. Very Strong Suction. Once it is locked in its locked in. It dont come off. I fought to get it off once i was done shooting the videos i wanted to take.

For this video shoot i did some videos from inside the car with the unit attached to the Windshield. Now that i know that it bonds like it says and doesnt come off easily i will make more videos soon from outside of the car.

But for now, here is the one i shot tonight from inside of my sonic...

As inticipated, I just ran a test video of the camera attatched to the trunk of the car pointing backwards so to get a nice rear view pulling away shot of around the block and as i first said in this paragraph, as i inticipated, You dont get to hear the car as all you hear is the damn wind. Why cant they make these damn cameras with better mic's to block out wind??? So i now need to figure a way to help "protect" the mic so to be able to actually capture the sound of the exhaust when filming. The video part came out great. Just cant hear a damn thing because of the wind. back to the drawing board for now opcorn:

Thanks for the tip. but i dont have a GoPro So that paticular peice wouldnt work for me. but it does give me a nice idea though lol. thanks

I just bought one of these: The WindCutter - Microphone Wind Noise Solutions

They make them for all types of cameras and mics. I can't wait to try it out on my Sony mic I bought for my GoPro.

I have the exact same mount it works perfectly for my DSLR camera
Here's the fat gecko mount. The camera isn't coming off for nothing, you'd have to damage the car first.

Rear View Video Mounted On Trunk...

Here is a video i just took using my Fat Gecko Mount Showing some video footage from outside of the car. Only problem is the audio is absolutely useless from that video footage so I had to delete from the video. The audio you here in the video is of a clip i made with the same camera sitting in the trunk as i drive around the same area.

Next time im going to Put one camera on the mount and then put another in the trunk for audio and then sync the 2 together so to give a nice video with audio that matches the movements. Nothing ive used has blocked the insane wind noise going into the cameras mic. It ruins the video every time. Ive tried, cotton balls, felt pipe cleaners (the bendable craft sticks), Felt material. Nothing has blocked the wind out. and The site Windcutter dont have my camera listed for there invention for this task. They do have it for my Camcorder but that thing weighs and i dont trust it mounted to this mount and not falling off the car while driving.

So The mount was a nice thought but unless i can find a way to cut the wind noise and capture the exhaust from the outside of the car its pretty much was a waste of money. Thats why i bought it. Because it was ALOT cheaper than a GoPro Setup. Oh well. Live and Learn...

You don't seem to realize that wind is just the same as sound in a lot of ways. Wind and sound are both "vibrations" in the air. If you want to pick up the sound of the car you have to deal with the wind. You can't just tell a mic to "not record the wind," they record all the sounds that come to them.

There are ways to block the wind or you can place the camera in a less windy place.
But saying "Why cant they make these damn cameras with better mic's to block out wind???" just grinds my gears.

They do make cameras that do a decent job at it. My dslr does a decent job. You can hear the wind but it's not overwhelming and you can still hear the car.

What i was saying was id like to see a camera that can record while in motion and not have such high wind noise involved that cancels out all other noises. and it can be done. The mic's on digital cameras are way too sensitive to the wind and ruin any recording with lots of wind involved. thats what i was referring to in my post. I have found a solution to that specific problem and will be purchasing it to use with that camera. but til then, i have a different camera im going to try out that has a technology built into the camera to help cut out the wind noise going into the mic when recording and see if that makes a better video with less wind noise in the sound. Thats what i want. less wind noise and more heard from other sounds that im actually trying to record. We all know you cant totally knock out the wind in a mic. But it shouldnt be so obvious as it is in most mics with all the technology out there these days.

New Video With Different Recorder.... Same Results!

I tried a different recording camera and well, i got the same results. Nothing but wind noise and no other sound. I just want to diminish the wind sound enough that you can actually hear the car when driving. Like other videos of people making outside videos of there cars moving. Like Andrew's and KuntryBoy's. I know Andrew has a GoPro so that helps him out. but I guess my recorders dont handel wind well But to show you all what im talking about i kept the audio in this video i made today so you could here what im dealing with!
