Ideas I personally like so far:

Disc brake rears
New lug pattern
Go along with the Trifecta tune, but use the full version and see how much power you can get out of it...

THEN

If time permits, do a dyno run with the Trifecta and a dyno run with a full custom tune to see just how good the Trifecta really is.

Retrofit quiality coil-overs. I'm thinking Blisten or Ohlin.
Turbo swap
Transmission overhaul

Other ideas I'd like to add:
Going along with the weight reduction: See how light you can actually make it! Gut the interior, lightweight panels, aluminum/carbon bucket seats, pull the air conditioner, the works!
I know it's available, but I haven't seen it on this site yet: big brake kit for the front end.
Low drag side mirrors
Hardened bushings (GET RID OF THAT DAMN WHEEL HOP!)
T/C Stabillitrak override
Stiffer anti-roll bars, front + back

I've got more, but I'll have to think on them.

Cool! I think its pretty awesome Eggman your asking real sonic enthusiasts to weigh in on your build!

Sticking with the whole "everyman" build concept here is my personal list:

Tune -Would be awesome to get a comparison of some of the tunes that are currently available with some dynosheets so we can compare and find out which is the best for making power but no e85. Strictly normal pump gas (premium). Lets face it, e85 isn't all the common all around the world.

General bolt-ons - maybe some tests on which exhaust and air intake give you the most bang for your buck

Turbo Upgrade - ...and all the supporting beef up. This would be awesome because there is only on person that I know of that is approaching this right now.

Coilovers - seeing what alternatives there are besides the slim pickings on ones made for the sonic would be nice.

Brakes - some form of brake upgrade. Whether is just a big brake kit on the front or rear discs

Wheels - If you could find a solution to the 5x105 problem with a new hub or something that would be amazing xD

LSD - VERY interested in this and its a practical upgrade since it not only gets you better performance but helps in bad weather conditions. Would be nice to see what the best performing on was.

Meth Injection - kinda iffy on this one since it maybe isnt really the most street friendly upgrade but it would be nice to have a write up on it for the sonic.

That about completes my list. Its pretty much all the things I want to do to my car xD I dont have many exterior modifications because I dont see the need since I like the exterior as is!

Whatever you guys do tho I am looking forward to reading the article!

After picking up the magazine today from the store and seeing the Sonic RS build article... guess were the first place I went to get more info about it was???? Not the Mag web site.. I went straight to this forum. As expected you are all over it. You guys are great. And thanks to the Mags for doing these builds. I will be following them closely.

The bolt-on performance and handling mods are most appealing to me.

I think what at least 80% of us want to see is more power. I think i speak for the forum when i say that a good bigger turbo option would make a lot of people happy. I dont think anyone is really pushing the bottom end of the 1.4 yet, and im pretty sure noone here has a turbo upgrade, correct me if im wrong.

I wouldnt get too wound up about using an rs rear setup. that may be the cheapest way to go but id check out other options so you dont have to commit to 5x105

Id like to see an alternative transmission or at least stronger stuff too

oh, and some of the thai stuff for the sonic is pretty neat, there was a guy on here that spoke about exporting some of it but i dont know who it was. They had a midwing that i liked a lot

I searched and haven't seen anyone upload this video of the final phase of import tuner's Sonic. I really like the front mount and the rear deck lid spoiler and above the rear window lip, and just can't say enough about the rims.
