Hey guys, been lurking here a long time and waiting for the release of the cyber grey color. Finally had one come in at my local dealer and went over to pick it up this weekend.
This is the 17th vehicle I have owned and the list ranges from classic trucks to a wrx, couple gti's, mustang 5.0, daytona shelby turbo, 1st gen scion xb, little bit of everything. The only thing 16 of the 17 have in common is manual transmissions, I really dislike autos and pretty much refuse to buy one.
My last vehicle was a 2011 Subaru Legacy - actually the car my ex-wife picked out that I ended up with in the divorce and didn't want so I was excited to get rid of it and get the sonic, wanted a little lower payment, better mpg and I didn't need a midsize car when it's usually just me with one passenger at most 95% of the time.
I actually stumbled on the sonic somewhat by accident, had gone to a local automall to drive the kia soul and hated it, remembered that Chevy had a new small car out and wasn't expecting much (I had a rental Aveo a few months prior and it was hands down the worst car I have ever been behind the wheel of) but I drove a turbo sonic hatch and loved it. Ended up with the sedan though because I think the rear quarters of the hatch look weird (and I'm a longtime hatchback fan). Also like having a trunk to store things out of sight.
Put 150 miles on the Sonic this weekend, getting 35.5 mpg so far with a mix of driving, like the way it handles and all of the technology with bluetooth/onstar,xm,usb port etc.
I'll be here a lot and hopefully diving into some of the DIY mods and a turbo tune shortly, hoping to have this car for a long time and really enjoy it!
