New key fob

Has anyone had to replace or get a new key fob? Mine came used with only one key and I'd like to get a spare, looks like the only option is through a dealer. Has anyone brought a key they bought elsewhere to a dealer to cut?

I'll just give the nearby dealer a call as well, but I wanted to see if anyone has experience with this.

Ordering one from Ebay is your cheapest option, thoughh programming the chip will still be pricey. A new one through the dealer will cost around $300.

Call up your local lock smith... Got a replacement when I lost my last key... Key fob, cut and programming $220. If I would've had my original it would have been $125.

Dealer made me a second key/fob and programmed it for $80. This isn't a Lexus, chevy doesn't over charge for new keys.

It's has nothing to do with the brand. It's the chips our remotes have in them. I know it's more if you have remote start. But your dealer gave you a good price. My local dealer didn't.

Buy a new key from the Dealer and you can program it yourself. Side note not the 17 push button start that requires the tech tool. I just did mine for $50
