I traded a cobalt in for my sonic too. Did you get $500 or did you get employee pricing? I bought used and got neither but got an ltz instead of the ls I could have got.

I DID get both discounts. I do have a budget so I wanted to keep my payments within reason. The LTZ is beautiful but I found this '13 LS with 5k listed for $13,499. Then he added discounts. Being that the car was nicely equipped even on the base model and had MyLink installed I was pretty sold. It's def different than the Cobalt... going from a 4spd to a 6spd but it's actually more refined and quiet. It feels like a much more substantial car.

I got lucky with the used LTZ find is all it came down to. I think most decent gm dealers will do everything they can at this point for cobalt owners. I griped loud and was the first person in a loaner vehicle. The loaner was a 1.8 13 granite black metallic with 4k on it 8k by the time I returned it a month later. They offered me that car for 12540 fantastic deal but after driving it for a month I knew I didn't like the way it idled and the way it sounded at a cold start. I said the 13 used turbo is where I want to be. They loaned me that car for two weeks while they finished my car I drove the cobalt for two days and went back in to trade it for the sonic 15 minutes later the paperwork was signed and I was out the door. Sure I miss the cobalt 5 speed manual coupe but the little turbo that could fills the gaps nicely.
