New Member, Need Help!

Hi Everyone,

I just bought a 2012 Sonic with a busted radio. I bought a used stock one from Ebay and it is locked. I tried googling answers and the dealer said they will charge $119 to hook up with no guarantee that it will work! I am hoping someone has a decent work around?

Otherwise really enjoying the car!

Radio has to be VIN matched I believe.
Any shop with a decent Bi directional scan tool should be able to make it work.

I would also add that it might not be worth even putting another mylink system back in the car as this radio is getting old and alot of the functionality of the radio has lost support especially in the realm of navigation. If you are looking for resale value or are just trying to keep it stock I get it but for the price you paid you'd honestly be better off with an aftermarket stereo as you'd get alot more functionality out of it. Pretty much all the mylink is good for anymore is Bluetooth and the radio maybe pandora if you actually use that. As far as the stereo being locked id agree with the above comment it would be vin locked and need a good scan tool to make it work but my suggestion would be if you already have it out go ahead and go with something aftermarket as you'll likely be happier with it in the long run.

I've honestly been thinking about ripping out the stock radio and replacing it with an after market cd player.
