New RS Accident :(

Well, talk about a heart breaking moment. My new Sonic RS made it a whole 10 days off the show room floor before being hit by another vehicle. My girlfriend and I were in the car, both of us are ok. Other car only hit us doing about 15-20mph. It's in the body shop now, but you know how the saying goes, it will never be the same again.

Thanks. Me too, they are replacing both doors which means they have to be painted in shop. Hopefully they match up really well.

Don't worry, a good shop will fix it right.

Also, don't be hesitant to nitpick ANYTHING that you feel isn't right after it's fixed. Panel gaps, paint ghosting (buffer marks), etc. Buffer marks are very common after a repair that involves painting, so make sure to bring a bright flashlight if there's no direct sun and shine it around from different angles.

On a much smaller note, I've never seen a Sonic with pin striping before?

Funny you point that out Chris. I was telling the insurance guy "Hope they can get the pin striping right". He said "I've never seen a Sonic with pin striping". I think my dealer had it done, I looked at the internet pictures they posted when they first received it and it didn't have them at that time. They look good so I want them replaced. No worries on nit picking, I'm very picky when it comes to scratches and marks. Drives my girlfriend crazy sometimes but I will notice if somethings not right. I took it to one of the highest regarded body shops in Indy, if they can impress me then they are the real deal haha.

It's definitely a dealer thing. Mine has a red and white pinstripe that the dealer hand painted on there. I think it's a nice little touch.

I was super pissed. My black sonic was dented by a soccer mom about a week after having it. Luckily it is barely noticeable unless you are looking for it.

Does anyone know if a car accident effects the warranty on the car from GM. Everything being replaced on the car will be OEM. I didn't know if anyone could shed some light on that..

It happened outside of a restaurant. She was getting in her car to leave. She looked briefly, then pulled away.

Cars and car parts can be replaced, people cannot.

Glad you are both okay, hoping for a speedy (and complete) repair of your vehicle!

Your warranty should not be affected at all. The only way it would be is if your body shop does shoddy work. For instance, your power window quit working and the service department gets in there and sees obviously faulty repairs from the accident...That's one reason I always recommend using the dealers body shop as long as they have a good rep... They can't exactly tell you the accident repairs were bad if they are the ones who did it.... In any case, you should be fine as long as your body shop does a good job.

Why didn't the side airbags go off? Looks like you got hit pretty good...

Anyways, I'd be very picky and bring a friend to look too. Also, see if you can compare it to another sonic. Luckily no one was hurt

Shadow it looks that way because I was hit by a 2007 GMC Yukon. If I was hit by a car the same size as mine or close to it it wouldn't have been this bad. Air bags didn't deploy because we weren't hit hard enough, I compare it to get tapped in a bumper car.

I took it to a well known body shop in Indy: Indianapolis Collision Repair & Auto Body Shops | Church Brothers

I hear they do a really great job, estimated time they will be finished is March 18th. We'll see if they can impress me.

March 18? When did it go in? I wouldn't think it should take a month to fix. My mothers car didn't spend that long in the body shop when a girl crossed the double yellow and bent the spindle, control arm, subframe, and rim not to mention the hood, fender, lights and all the other small parts. Her car came out of the shop looking and driving like new within 3 weeks

On my paper work its says they are replacing both doors on passenger side. Have to repair the B pillar. Had to order new door mounts, repair the rocker panel, paint work, they are cutting and sectioning the frame right above the back door and below the back door and replacing it with a new piece. Back rim has to be refurbished. Plus the shop is closed on both Saturday and Sunday's. I gave it to them February 18th. There was a supplement after they took it apart so that caused a delay since they had to order more parts....I guess there's a lot of removing and putting things back together with the work their doing. If it's done right and I'm satisfied I don't mind...

One month body shop time isn't all that bad. My old ride was in the body shop for 3 weeks to fix hail damage and replace the rear glass hatch.
