Yeah...hard to believe a turbo...A/C...cruise, pwr windows, 2 more speakers and a CD player etc etc can cost that much more. Year end is definitely the time to buy...bunch of dealers had base 2012 models for just under $12g, the sedan was even cheaper, but I hate steel wheels, and it was black, and my wife hates the way they look. I was told 0% for 84 months, then came in and the owner told me that was a mistake - one I wish I could've held them to but no, I didn't get that on paper the first time. So I had no proof of said quote to say otherwise, plus the finance guy is a friend of over 25 yrs and the salesman is one for about 20 yrs...they made a mistake...no point making a stink about it, even at 2.99% it was cheaper than taking 0% (which they did have...but not at the rock bottom price) - for 0% I had to pay about $15-1600 more over that same 84 month period. In the end the math worked out better with interest.
The whole reason behind this purchase was to save money on gas over the long haul...and we're way over on the kms on our leased truck, so it's also an attempt to keep it in check. Also cuts the kms on my "nice" car as I won't be taking it to work everyday. I'd like 17's and to do a few other little touches (maybe a CAI?, install LTZ fog lights) but then that kind of defeats the purpose... If I can find a wrecked LTZ with the 17's, or a used set on the cheap I might still do that. Maybe...17's do perk up the looks quite a bit.
