I live in south-western Ontario, Canada, 5 km from the U.S border. On Dec 6, 2013, I bought a 2014 Chevrolet Sonic hatchback with the 1.8 liter engine and automatic.
This is my first new car. I am still learning to love it. My previous car was a 1991 Buick Century which I had to junk because of rust. Otherwise it was still a smooth runner with amazing snow traction and a plush highway ride. The Buick's 3.3 liter V6 produced its maximum torque at just 1200 rpm, so around-town driving was effortless. The Sonic produces its maximum torque at a much higher rpm, so I am still getting used to having to press the accelerator harder.
I have driven the Sonic through 2 snow-storms. Its snow traction is quite good. I felt safe in it, so I am starting to like the car. Despite the dashboard's many storage spaces, I am yet to figure out how to install a cell phone holder (hands free device) and find room for a portable CD player. These are going to be my projects for this month.
