To the poster asking about General Altimax RT43:
I got those for my last car. But only put like 7k miles on them before buying the Sonic. They are pretty good all around. Not a performance tire, but decent handling and good grip. Felt a little squirmy compared to the previous tire (Tiger Paw Touring), but equal ultimate grip and better in the wet. In fact, the RT43 are absolutely great in the rain. You don't have to slow down much at all. I will probably put them on the Sonic when I replace the O.E. tires.
On the O.E. Hankooks:
After reading the horrible TireRack reviews I was prepared for them to be truly awful.
So far I have been pleasantly surprised. In the dry I actually have no complaints with them at all. I love how they don't squeal.
I had to drive 150 miles in the rain and was terrified to do so based on the reviews, but they did nothing to scare me. True, I was being careful, but they were ok in the rain. They are still brand new with lots of tread though. Snow may be their big downfall however. Not really looking forward to winter on them.
