Newbie here. Trying to fix the granddaughters Sonic.

Just posted my first question, so I thought I'd better let somebody know I was here. I'm a retired Ironworker living in southeast Missouri. Seems I spend more time working on my kids and grandkids cars than my own. Today was my 20 year old granddaughter that needed 'help', so I changed her valve cover and plugs, then flushed her radiator on her 2013 Sonic 1.8. Everything went smooth, until she got home to St. Louis and told me her engine light is on. So goes my first Sonic experience, and that was my first post. So anybody who's ever seen this happen before, please let me know where to start troubleshooting. She works and has college classes, and I just messed up her car. Yes the forum will notify you by email. I would have your granddaughter go to a parts store and have the codes read. That should give you a place to start at least.

Thanks, Akurei. I am the grandfather. My granddaughter took the car home an hour away after I finished the job. My son has a code scanner and my grandson is supposed to help her with it. I told her to google the code list, or have her brother do it. I also told her I'd come up if she needs me to. I'm waiting for her to get up and around to see what they find. And since i got an email for your reply, (thanks), i see that i will get emails. I'm on at least one forum that doesn't do that, so I miss a lot of replies on it.
