nighttime rear view mirror ghosting

So I just got my sonic 2014 LT hatchback, and had my first nighttime drive. Pulled the rear view mirror tab forward so I could dim the glare of the headlights in my rear view mirror. What I was seeing was a greyish tan fairly large horizontal stripe in the mirror. I realized that it was the ceiling of my car. I tried slightly changing the mirror position, but it didn't help. Maybe I'll get used to it, but it's disconcerting. Any suggestions welcome.
