I've been having some fun trying to figure things out. Ways to get more MPG's.
I tried 93 Octane instead of my usual 87 Octane and I got about 2MPG more. I'm not sure if the warmer weather played more of a part in the gain than the octane increase did. For 2 MPG more, I am not sure it's worth it, though it might be better in long run for engine.
But, I'm now REALLY having some fun trying to get my display to hit new highs for MPG's driving on the roads around where I live. .....
I went back to 87 Octane. I live in Central Mass, which is pretty hilly, but I am having a LOT of fun with the hills. Although I think I might be ticking off some people who drive behind me. Luckily, it's a two-lane so they can go around when I am squeezing out the MPG's at the bottom of the hills.
For instance, when I drive to a job site which is about 40 miles away, It's probably 70% downhill. I get up to about 70-75 just as I reach the hills peaks on the highways, then I push it into neutral and coast to the bottom. I have a few really long declines. Speed slows to between 52 and 54 before I start driving "Normal" again, but all that time it's idling at 1K RPM's.
It's sooo cool to watch the MPG's go up. An examples is.... I left my house, with the display showing 30.3 MPG and it peaked at 41.7 just before I got to my destination.
Wasn't so easy going home uphill though, but when I got home, the Display showed 34.6. Still better than what I left with.
I REALLY like how smoothly the Auto goes to neutral and then back in gear. It' like butter. I hardly feel it. It's turning out to be a nice little game.
There's another road that's like a roller coaster too. Wicked Fun. I get up to about 50 and toss it in neutral. I pick up speed down hill and I barely make it up a few hills, but the speed limits there are about 25. Perfect. Then I start the decline again. When I am not it a hurry I can do about 5 miles on that road in neutral. Peaking at 50 and crawling at about 15 to make it over one of the hills. It's cool to feel how smoothly this thing rolls, even with the original tires. This road's single lane. I don't make many friends here *Snickers*
