oil leaking from intercooler pipe!

oil filter housing is not close to the intercooler piping. kinda sits over the trans. PICS!!!!

Perhaps I worded that badly.

By oiled filter element I meant for an air filter. You know, like K&N.

No no mine I have seen slight oil from my IC pipe too at the plastic elbow from the IC to the throttle body. Its the PCV system. Just need a pcv reroute and catch can to fix the issue.. which I havent tried to do yet

Like most PCV problems it will have to do with acceleration, throttle habits, and which way the driver throws it in turns.

from my experience, oil in the intercooler pipes means a blown turbo. the pcv system dumps air into the intake tract before the compressor wheel, after the compressor the system is charged, except for the blowoff valve on certain cars. easy way to check if its a pcv problem is to take the intake off and look for oil deposits, if there are none then its probably a bad turbo.

I've been watching this thread and my thoughts are the same as urs. Oil in intercooler is bad turbo .

from my understanding, GM put a ball bearing turbo in the sonic which makes me kinda question what they were thinking. usually BB turbos don't last as long as journal bearing turbos, but this is a Borg Werner based turbo made by Garret I believe, so they may have some newer engineering that I've yet to come across. who knows.

You have that backward BB turbos generally have far better reliability than their JB counterparts.

That and transient response between the 2 is night and day

To the topic at hand here I haven't really gone through the engine on the car but it can be that a catch can set up is needed to resolve here if many are seeing this. I wouldn't jump on a blown turbo bandwagon here

Does the valve cover vent to the intake on the Sonic? If not, I'd have to look at the PCV system from there
