P0011 Won't Go Away

I've been dealing on and off with a P0011 code for over a year and it won't go away. The Sonic has been in the shop 4 times total at 2 different shops in addition to my own repairs.
I'm at the point the car runs/works perfectly fine, all readiness tests have passed, but the service light is still on (with only a "historic fault" P0011 listed)


I've had a new timing kit installed, a new timing gear, the timing readjusted approx 7 months later, new exhaust side solenoid, new intake side solenoid (twice), 3 oil changes, 1 oil system flush/cleaning, and wiring checked. The faults have been cleared after each, and At best I went 3 months with the service light off, at worst, I made it 8 miles from the shop before it was back on.
I'm already in $2500+ in total trying to fix this and my emissions/registration was due almost 2 months ago (2 failed emissions tests because of this and can't get the exemption yet).

First I've seen the "historic fault" through all this, so not sure if that's a good sign or not. Should it go away on it's own soon after so many cycles, or am I still trapped in P0011 hell?

Update!
The "historic fault" cleared Saturday night, and I was able to pass emissions Sunday morn; however, BEFORE I PULLED OUT OF THE TENT THE LIGHT WAS BACK ON. Same code again "Pending P0011" and 1 readiness check incomplete again (Evaporative Sys).

Any known Sonic glitch/issue I'm dealing with here, or do I need to go back to a shop for the 5th time?

Appreciate the response, but that fix has been tried already and made no difference.

I'm on the same boat. 2 different mechanics have said I need a new engine. Car has only 53k miles on it too...get ahold of Chevy through customer care. Let them know. With everyone I've seen have this issue, it's ridiculous that there has not been a recall or TSB on it

Still an issue for me now (almost 2 years and $3k later). Last guess I got was that I need to replace the ECM and get it programmed (presumed fault/short in the ECM).

I had an added symptom for a day; the car would only drive forward in 2nd gear, so it was slow to go and capped at roughly 45mph. Took it to a transmission shop that gave it a heavy inspection (checked all wiring, solenoids, etc), but the car didn't even have a problem by the time they started checking it, and it's been acting fine since ...and that was 2 months ago.

To drive the car you can't tell there's anything wrong, no symptoms of anything, rough idle, etc. Runs perfectly fine ...but just has a seemingly permanent P0011 code stuck.

I am stuck in the same hell for 2 years. everything replaced, the code won't go away. Warranty won't cover anything associated with this code. Can't register my car. Don't know what to do with this sonic

New to the forum. I have a 2018 1.8 with 63k at the time. Same issue. Replaced multiple intake solenoids, timing belt kit, both cam gears and the intake cam position sensor. Lasted two months and the start up rattle came back as well as the p0011 code. Re placed the intake cam gear again and a second position sensor and problem has stayed fixed. Now I have a repeat p0411 code.

I had success in stopping the P0011 code. For the last oil change, I upped the oil weight to 10W-40. Full synthetic –high mileage.

Some notes:.
• Prior to the oil weight increase, I would consistently trigger a “pending P0011” on my ultragauge. Mainly in the hot weather and stopped on a highway off ramp after a 20 mile highway drive.
• After switching to the heavier weight oil, I have had no trouble codes (pending or otherwise). Many months and 7000 miles under various conditions including those that I’m sure would have triggered a pending.
• There is more to it but It would require writing a dissertation.

PS: I have 105K miles on a 2016 1.8 hatch
