P0033 Code after installing boost gauge?

Hey guys, I've looked around on the forum and couldn't find this issue anywhere. Forgive me if I missed it. But I just installed a boost gauge in my sonic. I put a T in the black line with the green stripe. This is hidden under the intake runners. The gauge reads -9 at idle and only 6psi at full boost. So RIGHT after I installed this, I get a code P0033 (turbo bypass control valve open). I'm guessing that's the black solenoid with three lines going to it or the actual stock BPV itself. Has anyone had this issue? Is that not a good place to tap in? Where is the best place to T into and what connectors should I buy (because I know the other lines are small hard plastic). You can just cap that thing and bypass it. Read up on it in MPFab's thread (bypassing the bypass solenoid).

My guess is that where you tapped in is taking air away from the solenoid that it is expecting to see, so it thinks that it's leaking even though it's not. I'd either tap in on the other side of the solenoid or bypass it entirely.

Not saying that is the wrong line but I have not seen anyone tap that line. There is a thread around here somewhere that shows the appropriate line. It starts at the front of the car (by the turbo) and runs back underneath a thick harness found on the left side of the block (if your looking under the hood). It drops down in the same area that the black and green striped line is and that is where I T'd in.

Okay I switched lines and but I'm still only getting 6psi max. I guess that's from it being so cold? What are the benefits of bypassing the solenoid entirely? Better response?

This is where I tapped in if anyone else is wondering. I'm pretty sure it's the right vac line. The line I tapped in (and filter) is sitting right on the coil cover. But this 6psi max boost is devastating. :/

The cold should not effect your boost. Before I was even tuned I hit 16psi. At idle I am also -19vac. Be sure you tapped the right line. Double-triple check. If it is the right line, I would say it is your gauge. What kind of gauge do you have? And do you feel there is no power? At 6psi your power would be low!

Checked my gauge with my air compressor and its spot on. I might have a boost leak because the same light came on even after T-ing into this new spot.

I've seen guys T into this new spot and have talked to a coulple with no codes, so I know the spot works. The code is "P0033 = Turbo/Super Charger Bypass Valve Control Circuit / Open"...

I had a rather large leak and my boost was peaking at an all time high 28-29pounds. Someone correct me if I am wrong but a boost leak would more closely be related to a loss in cfm or quantity of air you are delivering. Does the car feel underpowered?

I would also check your electrical connections. I know a poor connection can cause the gauge to malfunction. My gauge was also sensitive to the way the MAP sensor was mounted.

I checked the gauge without changing the connection. Just unhooked the line and shot it with air compressor. Spot on 20psi. Put it back on the car and made sure all connections were sealed... 6psi max. I also hear a loud sucking sound when it starts to get under a load. Could be the new K&N intake tho. Gonna try and get a forge BPV and see if that solves this. Also, yes car feels a bit underpowered.

Well I'm a dumbass. The code was caused by a connector that had came loose. I checked all my connectors and were good but I somehow missed this one. Perfect now. 13psi in 30 degree weather ain't bad. Thanks all who helped!
