Parking for compact cars only

Anyone else feel guilty parking in compact car only parking spots? I mean, we do drive subcompacts, right!

Subcompact is smaller than compact. Sonics are subcompact

Nah. You can park anywhere, the subcompact spots are to promote sensible choices when buying cars.

Think of it like the hov lane, you aren't forced to drive in it if you have passengers, but you need passengers to use it

That one seems awfully relative... A Jeep Wrangler could be considered highly fuel efficient when compared to a Hummer...

I never feel bad parking anywhere. Frankly, it doesn't even bother me when I see a truck parked there. The best parking spaces are rewarded by sensible, using that in the loosest sense of the word, decisions. I enjoy parking directly at the front on my motorcycle.

I saw that too and I asked the EPA how is that possible?

The guy I spoke to said it was an outdated system that would take an act of Congress to change it (literally)! It goes by Passenger & Luggage space availability. I guess the hatchback has a spacious interior. The external size of the vehicle is not taken into consideration. So my question is, who sets the standard on determining the class size of vehicles? Because GM classifies both the Sonic Sedan and Hatchback as Subcompacts even though the EPA said they're Compact and Midsize, respectably. opcorn:

It has a combined passenger and cargo space of 110 CF. Midsize class starts at 110. Genius engineering on GMs part with that one.
