I did the chrome trim around the grills the other day. It was a lot easier than trying to use vinyl. It took a bit of time masking everything, though. I left about a 1/4-1/2 inch border around the chrome for easy peeling of the excess.

Yea I was gonna try the vinyl, but they didn't have it at
my autozone. So I just tried the plasti-dip. That's the method I used too

Vinyl is a pain in the ass to bend around the corners. I gave up after 5-10 minutes with the heat gun. Maybe I'm just a novice with vinyl manipulation.

Pep Boys sells some "trim" vinyl tape, but the quality is cheap as hell compared to: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005HGD004/ref=ox_ya_os_product

I've tried doing the chrome around the tail lights numerous times now.

I either can't get an edge to get a clean peal or have pulled some off the chrome.

I have tried using a knife to follow the edges, and even then it won't always work.

Any tips?

what worked for me was not putting the tape right on the chrome. i put it at least a 1/2 inch away from the chrome. since theres a little gap between the trim and the black plastic, the plasti-dip that gets sprayed on the black plastic will get cut at the gap when you pull it off

That's what I did.

The bottom of the lower one is a pain. There isn't really a edge for it to tear on.

I like the look but i am not sure if I want to do it to mine. I already have black rims. Not sure if it would be too much black and nothing to set off the natural shapes of the car.
