Has anyone dyno tested this mod yet on a Sonic? I looked an can not find a pre and post, thanks.

I'm pretty sure nobody has done it. most of us just enjoy the better top end, but admittedly it could be placebo.

On a Sonic, not to my knowledge.
On a Cruze with an engine similar to the engine used in the Sonic, yes.
There are before/after dyno charts for both iteration of a Ported Intake Manifold buried in posts on the CruzeTalk Forum. Both iterations came from Brian at VTuners and both required the ECM tuned to get the most from the mod.
No links because I am not a member of that forum (therefore can not access their search function) and am not patient enough to do a thread by thread search for something for which I have no interest.

Thanks, I will see what I can dig up over there. We have an extra intake manifold here now and will modify it, and do a back to back dyno test of it to see what it is doing.

Did this happen yet? Still on the to-do list? I'm very curious to see if it would have any negative effect on daily driving MPGs.

From my observations hand calc tank MPG and also instantaneous MPG (UltraGuage) I did not notice an appreciable change in fuel economy before and after porting (on stock tune).
I'm not saying it doesn't change MPG, only that it was too close too stock for me to notice.

Has anyone with an ultra gauge actually watched their boost through the rpm range? After 6k my boost drops off significantly . It's colder here right now so max boost I'm seeing is 12ish. While in a second and third gear pull to redline the boost builds and then drops off after 6k to like 5-6psi. Could be the falling on its face we are experiencing. I'm not too sure that removing some plastic moulding in the intake is the cure. Not saying it doesn't help airflow. Btw I am stock. So anyone that's stock and has an ultra gauge should try it and see if you get the same thing I am experiencing.

The aluminum intake manifold was deemed useless as porting the plastic piece yielded the best results for simple labor rather than $600.

Gonna test out the car with this mod 04/20/2013
I just ported my manifold, and I am going to test it out at the 1/4 mile this weekend. (04/20/13)
I am on the stock tune** with custom CAI, and 2nd cat delete back exhaust.
My best run before porting my manifold is 15.78 @ 86.35 MPH
60ft 2.209
1/8 mile 10.08 @ 68.89 MPH
Will post my reults ASAP after the dragway on saturday.
I just ported my manifold, and I am going to test it out at the 1/4 mile this weekend. (04/20/13)
