I built the first set of projectors ever to hit the Sonic back in the end of 2012 and felt it was time for an upgrade. I've built many beautiful sets that caused many including myself to be envious. I felt it was finally time to step up and build myself a nice set the way I wanted to.
I was able to pick up a previous build I did for a client who wanted to switch over to LED headlamps so I had a great starting point already.
I decided to build my own cradle instead of using the stock reflector bowls and chopping them up. All handmade out of ABS plastic. It allowed me to position the projectors anywhere I wanted.
Once I got the projectors positioned properly, I knew I needed to set this headlamp apart from the others. During my visit to SEMA last November, a hot trend in custom headlamps was etched lenses. I used to work for a trophy shop who has an amazing laser I knew could take care of such a job.
Lenses back in!
Fun little pic but the RGB boards will be used at a later date.
Ready to assemble....
Switched the RGBs out with both red and amber LEDs in each projector.
aim session
turned my dining room into a harness factory
final install and test
