I drove a 2014 Chevy Sonic LTZ hatch turbo...
A couple of weeks ago I had a screeching noise coming from the engine while the AC was on... So I took it to my dealer and come to find out they needed to replace the water pump and crankshaft seal... I was certainly glad that I got that fixed....
I went and picked up the car only to find a new noise coming from the engine. The sounds is almost like a ping or a rattle that I am unable to locate. I promptly took it back to the dealer only to have them not hear anything wrong. I took the car back and drove to work for several days. The noise got progressively worse so I called the dealer again and stayed that I would just drove the shop foreman around to have him listen to the noise. He finally heard A noise but had no idea what the sound was... Actually several shop people listened and drove the car... They had the car a few days, and thought that the belt was not seated right... The dealer stated the car was fixed again... I picked it up only to have the noise is certainly still there... It is mostly audible between 2k and 2500 RPM, and is a RPM specific noise as well. I am unable to hear it at idle...
The dealer told me that the noise was a normal "Air Pump" ping and that most people do not hear these noises but that to me is not a normal noise...
It almost sounds like a vacuum leak or some missfire but no engine codes to tell me if I am running lean... I am curious if it could be my spark plugs fouled since I am tuned...
So what options do I have? Do I find another dealer for a second opinion or do I pull the spark plugs to see if they are indeed fouled or need to be regapped... Or should I wait until the car either catches fire or breaks down? Just so the dealer can think that there is now a problem... Something I just thought about is maybe it is a vacuum leak somewhere.... Sorry for the long post... Just pulling out my hair is all... Hopefully someone would have some insight on this problem...
Thanks!
