Do a search on Powell before you throw around sarcasm.... You will be impressed with what he has done on the platforms he works with

The OP said to drop it and talk about his topic and not someone that does not make or even intend to make parts for our car.

I'll say this...would I be interested in an actual sway bar (when I get my Sonic)...yes.
Also, nobody said he wouldn't consider/doesn't intend to...but he's got other stuff to work on so it's not the first thing on his plate. /Powell talk. PS...technically Opticon didn't say drop it, he just wants to keep thread on track with his idea...whatever or whoever he's working with.
But again, when I do have a Sonic, this is something I would really want. Suspension is my foremost concern in any future car. Speed can come later. And I'm definitely not fond of the DDM idea even though I will wait until I see actual results (short term and long term) before I judge it totally.

The point is not how good powell parts but that he doesn't make parts for our car so its worthless. So yes his parts may be good for the platforms he makes for, but the sonic is not one of them nor does he plan on making them for the sonic, so once again the whole argument about them is worthless and off topic.

I'd like a traditional rear sway as well, especially if it offered some adjustability. The biggest question is just how much roll stiffness do you want to add. The more I drive the car the more I doubt a rear bar will be necessary. It just rotates so well from the factory. Attaching to the spring cups shouldn't be a problem, but most of these universal bars look massively stiff.
I'm definitely going to try the ddm version when its released as it looks to be closest to production, but the lap times and drivability will guide my decision of whether to keep it on the car. I want to try them all!

Opticon I'd be interested, but I haven't fully explored the limits of handling with the stock setup, and I would probably wait until after I got other suspension components to add a bar if I thought it needed 1.
that being said, maybe if you tell us what dimensions you need you can have some members on here go out and measure their cars

For a bar with a small amount of roll stiffness and/or adjustable I would be interested. I'm not interested in the wife making a reaction maneuver and the rear end snapping out on her too easily.
I used to do exactly what you described on the initial post on some old turbo Dodge's I've owned in the past. A few we even went so far as drilling out the 7/8" hollow tube in the torsion beam and welding in a solid 1" or 1-1/8" bar.

The factory ABS on this car would go a long way toward keeping the car straight in a highway panic maneuver... a level of security our TDs never had.
You should also note that DDM mentioned their small rear brace tested with a similar effect on stiffness to a full traditional bar. This is because they are greatly changing the material behaviour of the torsion beam itself. The effects of what we are calling a "traditional" anti-sway bar (with endlinks, chassis mounting points, and bushings) will be more controlled and subdued even if the bar looks massive. The bar simply helps to hold the chassis level using the beam as a fulcrum while leaving its original mechanical behavior intact.

The last question and response: proof all is relative.
Has anyone considered pressing Pfadt to do Sonic suspensions? I can not imagine Powell looking in our direction but I can imagine Pedders and Pfadt doing so. (I know Pedders is peeking.)
